    Add a form

Shows how to add a form with the AI and change its fields, destinations and messages in the Forms panel.

Forms on Starjay sites are built for you. You describe the form, the AI creates it and places it on the page, and you fine-tune it in the Forms panel. Submissions are saved, and can also be emailed to you or sent to another service.

Ask the AI for a form

In the chat, say what the form is for, which fields it needs and where it goes. For example:

Add a contact form to the Contact page with name, email, phone (optional) and message. Email each enquiry to hello@example.com.

The AI creates the form, adds it to the page and styles it to match.

If the form emails someone, that address must be verified before any email is sent. See Verify notification emails.

Open a form in the Forms panel

Click Forms in the left icon rail. If the site has no forms, you see "No forms yet — ask the AI to create one."

    The panel has two tabs:

On Definitions, the table lists each form with its number of Fields, whether Honeypot spam protection is on, and its Destinations. Click a form to open it.

    Change a form

An open form has three sections: Fields, Destinations and Settings. Each has its own Edit button. Click Edit, make your changes, then click Save (or Cancel).

    Fields

    • Change a field's label, type, or whether it's required (the Req checkbox).
    • Reorder fields with the up and down arrows, or remove one with ×.
    • Click a field's row to open more options, such as Placeholder, Help text, length limits and choices.
    • Click + Add field to add one.

See Form field types for every type and its options.

    Destinations

Where submissions go. Submissions are always saved so you can read them in Starjay. Add + email or + webhook for more. See Where submissions go.

    Settings

    Setting What it does
Submit label Text on the submit button. Default: Submit.
Success message Shown to the visitor after a successful submission.
Error message Shown if something goes wrong while submitting.
Spam protection Honeypot field enabled. On by default. See Spam protection.

Things you ask the AI for

These aren't in the panel. Ask the AI to:

    • Create, rename or delete a form. A form can't be deleted while a page still uses it.
    • Show a field only when a visitor gives a certain answer.
    • Send visitors to another page after they submit.
    • Set the subject line or reply-to address of notification emails.
    • Allow larger files on a file upload field.
    • Move the form or change how it looks.

Changes go live when you publish

Form changes reach your live site on your next site publish. Until then, a marker next to the form's name shows it has changes that aren't live. See Publish your site.
