    Messages you might see

    What each status screen and notice in the editor means and what to do about it.

    While your site opens

    Message What it means What to do
    Starting your site — Booting the site server… The editor is starting up your site. Wait. A progress bar shows how far along it is.
    Almost there — Loading the canvas… Your site is ready and the canvas is loading. Wait.
    Setting up a fresh workspace You haven't opened this site in a while, or it needs a fresh start. This usually takes about a minute. Wait.
    Couldn't load the site — The site server didn't respond in time. Starting took too long. Click Retry, or Refresh to reload the page.
    Sign in again Your sign-in expired. Refresh the page, sign in, and reopen the site.
    You do not have access to this site You're signed in to an account or workspace that can't open this site. Check which account you're signed in with.
    This project is archived The site is archived. Click Back to dashboard. Restoring an archived site needs Pro. See Rename, duplicate, archive, restore, delete a site.
    This workspace is paused The workspace's Pro plan has ended, so members can't open its sites. Ask the workspace owner to renew Pro. You reconnect automatically when they do. See When Pro ends.
    This workspace is out of credits The editor needs credits to run, and there are none left. Published sites keep working. Add credits, or wait for your next allowance. See Running out of credits.
    This site is temporarily unavailable Changes can't be saved right now, so the editor is paused to protect your work. Try refreshing in a few minutes.
    This site couldn't be opened An update your site needs failed, and retrying won't help. Contact support.
    Couldn't verify this site or Couldn't identify this site The editor couldn't confirm which site it's opening. Refresh, or reopen the site from the dashboard.

    While you work

    Message What it means What to do
    The editor went to sleep — It paused while you were away. Refresh to continue. The editor stops when you leave it for a while. Your work is kept. Click Refresh.
    Loading preview… The canvas is loading the page. Wait.
    Preview has an error — details in the canvas above. The page has an error, usually from a recent code change. The error details show in the canvas. Ask the AI to fix it (paste the error into the chat), or step back to an earlier version in the AI panel. Click Retry to reload.
    This page doesn't exist yet The canvas is on an address with no page. Click Back to homepage, or create the page.
    AI generating — editing locked and Editing locked — AI is generating The AI is changing your site. You can look around but not edit. Wait for it to finish, or stop it from the AI panel.
    Editing locked — accept or reject changes The AI's changes are waiting for you. Save or reject the session in the AI panel. See AI sessions: versions, Save and Reject.
    Loading version… / Saving changes… You're stepping to another version, or a session is being saved. Wait.
    Navigation locked while AI is generating You tried to open another page while the AI was working. Wait for the AI to finish.
    Claude is editing — locked An AI app connected to your account is working on this site. Wait, or click Take back control and confirm with Cut off Claude?. See How agent work shows up in the editor.
    Publishing — editing is paused Your site is publishing. Wait for the publish to finish.
    {Name} is also editing this site. Someone else has the site open. See Working with others at the same time.
    Editing the site Header — changes affect all N pages. You selected the shared header or footer. Continue, or see Shared components and "used on N pages".
    AI credits used up There aren't enough credits for the AI request. Click Manage credits. See Credits for AI.
    Content changed — canvas refreshed, try again The page changed while you were editing. Make your change again.
