Build with AI
Rebuild or borrow from an existing site
How to give the AI a web address so it can recreate or borrow the look and structure of an existing page.
You can point the AI at any public web page and ask it to recreate the page, or to borrow just part of it, such as the color scheme or the layout of one section.
What the AI captures
When you include a web address in your message, the AI opens that page in a browser and looks at it. The status line shows Fetching reference site…. It can:
- Take screenshots of the page at desktop, tablet and phone sizes, of the whole page, or of one section.
- Open menus, tabs and accordions on the page to see what's inside them.
- Read the page's colors (which ones are used for text, backgrounds and buttons), fonts, spacing and layout patterns.
- Read the page's structure: its sections and their order.
The AI then builds with your site's own colors and fonts. It adds new colors and fonts to your design tokens when it needs them, rather than copying raw values into your pages.
- 01
Copy the address
Copy the full address of the page, for example
https://example.com/pricing. - 02
Tell the AI what to take from it
Paste the address into your message and say what you want. For example:
Rebuild the homepage at https://example.com as my homepage. Keep the section order and layout, but use my brand colors and fonts.Use the color palette from https://example.com for my site.Make my pricing section look like the pricing table on https://example.com/pricing.
- 03
Review the result
Step through the versions, then Save or Reject. See AI sessions: versions, Save and Reject.
- 04
Make it your own
Replace the text and images with your own, and adjust colors and fonts in Tokens.
One page at a time
Each address is one page. The AI doesn't click through to other pages on its own. To rebuild several pages, give it the address of each one, ideally one page per request.
What it can't do
- It can't sign in. Pages behind a login, paywall or cookie wall may not show their real content. Use screenshots instead.
- It can't open private or internal addresses, such as addresses on your own network.
- It doesn't capture video or step through animations.
Credits
Opening a reference page uses credits, on top of the AI's own work on your request. The credit badge on the finished request shows the total.
