Choose an AI model
The AI models you can pick, who can use each one, and how a chat keeps its model.
You choose the AI model in the prompt box. The picker is on the left, under the text you type.
The models

The picker remembers your last choice for new chats.
Free plan
Free workspaces, and Pro workspaces with an overdue payment, can use GPT-6 Luna only. The other models stay in the list, grayed out and marked Pro. See Plans.
A chat keeps its model
Once you send the first message, the model is locked for that chat. The picker shows the model's name and the tooltip Locked for this chat. Clear the chat to switch models.
To use a different model, end the session with Save or Reject, then pick the new model before you send your next message.
A chat is never switched to a different model behind your back. If its model can't be used, you're told, and you decide what to do.
When a chat's model can't be used

| The chat's model has been retired | This chat's AI model is no longer available. End the session to keep its changes, or reject it, then start a new chat — your message is back in the box. | Save to keep the changes, or Reject, then send your message again with a current model. |
| The model is briefly unavailable | This AI model is temporarily unavailable. Try again shortly, or pick another model in a new chat — your message is back in the box. | Wait and send again, or end the session and pick another model. |
When a newer version of a model replaces an older one, chats that are already open on the older version carry on with it. New chats get the newer version.
