Credits when using your own AI

Which parts of working with your own AI use Starjay credits and which don't.

Your AI's thinking is free on Starjay

The model your AI app runs is paid for through your AI app's own plan. It doesn't use Starjay AI credits, however much it reads or writes.

    What does use credits

Some tools ask Starjay to do work on your AI's behalf. These use your workspace's credits, just as they would for Starjay's built-in AI:

    • Fetching a reference site (fetch_reference): loading another website and capturing its screenshots, colors and fonts.
    • Sample content when your AI creates a CMS collection and asks for sample items.

Your site's editor also needs to be running while your AI works, and a running editor uses Server time from your credits, whether you or your AI is doing the work. A published site never uses credits.

    When you're out of credits

Tools that use credits return insufficient_credits, with your balance. Your AI can keep making edits that don't use credits as long as the editor can run. See Running out of credits.
