    Build with AI

    Write prompts that work

Practical ways to ask Starjay's AI for what you want, with example prompts for common site-building tasks.

The AI does its best work when it knows exactly what you want, where, and what to leave alone. These habits make the biggest difference.

Start with the whole site, then go section by section

For a new site, give the AI the essentials in one message: what the business is, who it's for, which pages you need, and the feel you want.

Build a site for Northside Bakery, a neighborhood bakery in Portland.
    Pages: Home, Menu, About, Contact.
Home: hero with a photo and "Order for pickup" button, three featured
breads, opening hours, and a short story about the bakery.
Feel: warm, handmade, lots of white space. Cream background,
dark brown text, one terracotta accent color. Serif headings.

After that, work on one section or one page per request. Smaller requests are faster, cost fewer credits, and are easier to review.

    Select first, then ask

Click the section or element on the canvas before you type. The AI receives your selection, so you can say "this" instead of describing where something is.

Make this section two columns: the text on the left,
the image on the right. Stack them on phones.

Be specific about what to change and what to keep

Vague requests get the AI's guess. Name the thing, the change, and the limits.

    Instead of Try
Make it look better. Add more space between the testimonial cards, make the quotes larger, and put the customer names in bold.
Fix the header. In the header, move the logo to the left and the menu to the right. Keep the colors as they are.
Add some content. Add a FAQ section above the footer on the Contact page with 5 questions about delivery, allergens and opening hours.

Say whether a change is for one page or all pages

Your header, footer and other shared sections appear on many pages. Say which you mean:

On the About page only, change the hero heading to "Our story".
Don't change the hero on other pages.

See Shared components and "used on N pages".

    Show, don't just tell

Talk in your site's colors and fonts

Your colors and fonts have names in Tokens. Use them, so the AI reuses your palette instead of inventing new colors.

Make the "Order now" buttons use the accent color, and the
section headings use the heading font.

To change a color everywhere, change it in Colors or ask: Make the primary color a deeper green across the whole site.

Put lasting rules in the brand guide

Anything the AI should always follow belongs in your brand guide, which it reads on every request. For example: "Buttons are always fully rounded", "Never use exclamation marks", "Headlines are short, under 8 words".

You can also say Remember that we never use stock photos of people. and the AI will suggest adding it to the brand guide.

Ask it to check its own work

The AI can take screenshots of your unpublished pages at different screen sizes.

Check the homepage on a phone and fix anything that overflows
    or looks cramped.

Use the right tool for collections, forms and SEO

    • Add a blog with posts that have a title, date, cover image and body, a blog listing page, and a page for each post. (creates a collection)
    • Add a contact form with name, email and message that emails me. (creates a form)
    • Write SEO titles and descriptions for every page.

    Iterate instead of starting over

If a result is close, ask for adjustments: "Good. Now make the images smaller and the headline shorter." If it went the wrong way, step back to the previous version with ‹ and ask differently. If the whole session went wrong, Reject and start again.

    Keep the conversation focused

When you move on to a new part of the site, clear the AI's memory with Clear → Free up AI memory. Replies get faster and cheaper, and the AI stops returning to earlier ideas. See AI memory.

    Know what to do yourself

Some things are quicker by hand: fixing a typo (double-click the text), swapping an image, or nudging spacing in the Style panel. Use the AI for anything structural or site-wide.
