    Edit items

Shows how to add, find and edit collection items, how autosave works, and what the save messages mean.

    Find an item

Open the CMS view and pick a collection. Its items are listed in a table.

    • Search with the box at the top left.
    • Sort by clicking a column heading. Click again to reverse the order. Updated and Status can be sorted too.
    • The table shows 25 items at a time. Use Prev and Next to page through.
    • If some items lack a required value, a yellow chip like "12 missing Summary" appears. Click it to show only those items. Click × to clear the filter.

Click a row to open the item. While an item is open, a short list of the collection's items stays on the left so you can switch between them.

    Add an item

Click the + (New item) button in the collection's toolbar, or + Create item in an empty collection. The item is created as soon as you change something.

    Autosave

There's no Save button. Your changes save themselves. Next to the item's title you see:

    Message Meaning
Saving… Your latest change is being saved.
    Saved Everything is saved.
Waiting for the AI to finish The AI is working. Your change saves when it's done.
Couldn't save: … Something went wrong. Click Retry.
Not saved: … A value is the wrong kind, such as text in a number field. Fix the field shown in red.
To publish: … The item is saved, but needs this before it can be published.

An empty required field doesn't stop the item from saving. It only stops it from being published. See Required fields.

If you try to leave an item with changes that can't be saved, you're asked Discard unsaved changes? Choose Keep editing to fix them, or Discard changes.

    Undo and redo

While an item is open, press Cmd+Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) to undo and Cmd+Shift+Z (Ctrl+Shift+Z) to redo. Typing in one field counts as one step.

For older versions, use History and restore.

If someone else changes the item

If the item changed somewhere else while you were editing (another person, another tab or the AI), you see "This item changed elsewhere…" with Reload. Reloading shows the latest version and discards your unsaved edits.

    Item size limit

An item can hold up to 256 KB of content. From about 80% of the limit, the header shows the size, for example "This item is 215 KB of 256 KB". Over the limit, the item doesn't save and you see "Too long to save — this item is … KB; the limit is 256 KB." Shorten long text or split the content into several items.

    More actions

The ⋯ (More actions) menu on an open item has:

    • History: see and restore earlier versions.
    • Copy item ID: copy the item's unique ID.
    • Unpublish: take a live item off your site.
    • Delete: delete the item permanently.

    When editing is locked

The CMS view is read-only at times, with a red banner:

    • "Editing locked — AI is generating": the AI is working on your site.
    • "Publishing — editing is paused": your site is being published.

    Let the AI write items

Ask in the chat, for example "Add five posts about winter gardening". Items the AI creates or changes are drafts. You decide when to publish them. To fill a collection with sample content without the chat, use Generate (see Create a collection).
