Using your own AI
How working on your Starjay sites from Claude, Claude Code, Codex or another AI app fits alongside the editor.
You can work on your Starjay sites from an AI app you already use, such as Claude Code, the Claude app, Claude.ai or Codex. The app connects to Starjay over MCP (Model Context Protocol), a standard way for AI apps to use outside tools. Once it's connected, your AI can read your site's files, change pages and components, manage colors and fonts, add images, work with the CMS, set up forms, SEO and redirects, look at screenshots of its own work, and publish your site when you say so.
One connection for all your sites
You connect once, and you sign in with your Starjay account. The connection then covers every site in every workspace you belong to. Your AI picks a site by its site ID, which you give it with a starter prompt from the editor (see Start working on a site).
How it fits with the editor
Your AI works the same way Starjay's built-in AI does:
- Each batch of changes your AI makes becomes a version in the editor's AI session, next to versions from the built-in AI.
- While your AI is working, the editor shows that it's editing and pauses your own editing so the two of you don't overwrite each other.
- You review the result in the editor and click Save to keep it or Reject to undo the whole session. Your AI can't Save or Reject for you.
- Your AI can publish, but only after you approve each publish in the conversation, and only after the session is saved or rejected.
For the details, see How agent work shows up in the editor.
What it costs
Your AI app's own thinking is paid for by your AI app, not by Starjay credits. A few things Starjay does on your AI's behalf use credits. See Credits when using your own AI.
