Rename, duplicate, archive, restore, delete a site

How to rename, copy, archive, restore or delete a site, and exactly what each action does.

All of these actions are in a site's More actions (…) menu on the Sites page. You can also right-click a site's card or row. Owners and members can use them.

    Rename a site

    1. 01

      Open the menu

Open the site's More actions menu and select Rename. The Edit site details dialog opens.

    2. 02

      Type the new name

Change Name (up to 60 characters).

    3. 03

      Save

      Select Save changes.

Renaming changes the name you see in Starjay. It doesn't change the site's address.

    Duplicate a site

    1. 01

      Open the menu

Open the site's More actions menu and select Duplicate.

    2. 02

      Name the copy

The name starts as "Copy of" plus the original name. Change it if you like.

    3. 03

      Create the copy

      Select Duplicate.

The copy gets the original's pages, components, images and forms. Domains and the published site stay with the original: the copy starts unpublished.

Duplicating counts toward the Free plan's three active sites. Archived sites can't be duplicated.

    Archive a site

Archive a site you aren't working on, for example to make room under the Free plan's limit. Any plan can archive.

    1. 01

      Open the menu

Open the site's More actions menu and select Archive.

    2. 02

      Read what happens

The dialog lists what archiving does (below).

    3. 03

      Confirm

      Select Archive site.

    When you archive a site:

    • It's unpublished on every address it's live on.
    • Its custom domains are disconnected. Your DNS records and the site's content aren't touched.
    • It stays on the Sites page with an Archived label, but you can't open or duplicate it.
    • It no longer counts toward the Free plan's three active sites.

    Restore an archived site

    Restoring needs the Pro plan.

    1. 01

      Open the menu

Open the archived site's More actions menu and select Restore.

    2. 02

      Confirm

Select Restore site. You can open and edit the site again right away.

On the Free plan, the dialog says restoring requires Pro and offers Go to Subscriptions instead.

Restoring doesn't republish the site. Publish it again when you're ready. Domains that were disconnected need to be connected and verified again. See Connect a custom domain.

    Delete a site

    1. 01

      Open the menu

Open the site's More actions menu and select Delete.

    2. 02

      Confirm

      Select Delete site.

The site and all its content are deleted. If it's published to a custom domain, it's taken offline. Any plan can delete a site, including an archived one.

To take a site offline without deleting it, unpublish or archive it instead.
