Disconnect a domain
Remove a custom domain from your site and understand what happens right away.
- 01
Open the Publish panel
Click Publish in the editor's top bar.
- 02
Open the domain menu
Under Connected Domains, click ⋯ next to your domain.
- 03
Click Disconnect domain
Confirm by clicking Disconnect.
You see Domain disconnected. Both www and the bare domain are disconnected together.
What happens immediately
| If your domain was… | Then… |
|---|---|
| Your site's live address | Your site goes offline right away, and visitors can no longer reach it at that domain. The confirmation warns you: Your site will be immediately depublished… |
| Connected but not the live address | Nothing changes for visitors. You can no longer publish to that domain. |
To put the site back online after disconnecting its live domain, click Publish. It's served at your Starjay address.
What Starjay doesn't change
Starjay doesn't touch the records at your DNS host. Remove the www CNAME, the bare-domain record and the _starjay TXT record yourself if you no longer need them, especially if you're moving the domain to another service.
To connect the domain again later, connect it as new and add the records the card shows. See Connect a custom domain.
