History and restore
Shows how to see an item's earlier versions and restore one.
Every item keeps a history of its versions. You can preview any version and restore it.
Open the history
Open the item, open ⋯ (More actions) and choose History. The History panel opens beside the item, newest first.
Each version shows:
- What happened: Created, Edited or "Restored from version …".
- Who did it: You, a workspace member's name, AI, Starjay, or A former member.
- When, for example "5 min ago". Hover to see the version number and the exact time.
The newest version is marked Current. Edits you make in one sitting are grouped, so the list doesn't show every keystroke.
Preview and restore a version
- 01
Pick a version
Click a version in the History panel. The item shows that version, read-only, with "Previewing version …" at the top. Nothing is saved yet.
- 02
Restore it, or go back
Click Restore this version to make it the current draft. Or click Back to current to return to your draft unchanged.
Restoring adds a new version at the top of the history. Your other versions stay.
Restoring changes the draft only. To put the restored version on your live site, publish the item. See Publish and unpublish items.
You can also restore the live version: click the Published pill, then Restore this version.
What history doesn't cover
- Deleted items. Deleting an item deletes its history too.
- Collection fields. The history is for an item's values. While you edit a collection's fields in Edit Schema, you can undo and redo, but there's no history of saved field changes.
- The whole site. To go back to an earlier state of everything, use checkpoints.
