Create a collection
Shows how to create a collection with the AI or in the CMS view, add sample items, and show the collection on your pages.
You can ask the AI to create a collection, or create one yourself in the CMS view. Asking the AI is the quickest way, because it also builds the pages that show the collection.
Ask the AI
Describe what you want in the chat. For example:
Add a blog. Each post needs a title, a publish date, a cover image, a short summary and the post body.
The AI usually:
- Creates the collection and its fields.
- Writes a few sample items so the pages have something to show.
- Builds a listing page (for example,
/blog) and an item page that shows one item (for example,/blog/my-first-post).
The sample items are drafts. They show on the canvas, but not on your live site until you publish them.
Create a collection yourself
- 01
Open the CMS view
In the top bar, open the view menu and choose CMS. Make sure Collections is selected.
- 02
Start a new collection
If the site has no collections, click Create your first collection. Otherwise, click the + (New collection) button above the list of collections.
- 03
Name it
Enter a Collection name, such as
Blog Posts. - 04
Add fields
Under Fields, give each field a name and pick its type. The first field is used as each item's title. Tick Required for fields an item must have before it can be published. Click Add field for more.
- An Enum field needs its options, separated by commas.
- A Reference field needs at least one target collection.
- A Slug field can be generated from another field. Pick it under Generate from….
- 05
Create it
Click Create collection. The collection opens, ready for items.
You can change the collection's name, its fields and its Title field later with Edit Schema.
Add sample items
To fill a collection with example content, click Generate in the collection's toolbar, or Generate sample data when it's empty.
- Set Number of items (1 to 20).
- Optionally, add a Description of the content you want.
- Click Generate.
Generating items uses credits. See Credits for AI. If some items fail, the dialog says how many were made and offers to generate the rest.
Show the collection on your pages
Ask the AI to build the pages, for example:
Make a /blog page that lists the posts, newest first, and a page for each post.
To create an item page yourself, open Pages, click the + (Add page) button and choose New CMS Page, then pick the collection. If the collection is empty, you see "Template created. Add an item to the collection to preview it."
Pages that show a collection are part of your site. Publish your site so visitors can see them, then publish the items.
