Header, footer and navigation
How your site's header and footer work, how to change which ones you use, and how to edit menu links.
Your site's header and footer are shared components that appear on every page. You edit them once, and every page updates.
Add or change the header or footer
You choose the header and footer by asking the AI. There's no menu for it in the editor. For example:
- "Add a header with our logo on the left and links to Home, About and Contact."
- "Replace the footer with a simpler one: copyright line and social links."
- "Remove the footer from the site."
The AI builds the component if needed and sets it as the site's header or footer.
Edit menu links
Menu links are ordinary links, so you edit them the same way as any link:
- Double-click a menu link on the canvas (or select it and click the link icon on its label).
- Change the text in place, and pick a new destination in the Link section: one of your pages, or External URL... for another website.
See Edit text, links and images in place for details.
Add a menu item
Select the menu, or one item in it. If you can add items on the canvas, a + Add item button appears below the selection. Click it, then double-click the new item to set its text and link.
If + Add item doesn't appear, ask the AI to add the item, for example: "Add a Pricing link to the header menu, after About."
Changes affect every page
When you select the header or footer, the canvas shows Editing the site Header — changes affect all N pages. (or Footer). That's expected: there's one header and one footer for the whole site. See Shared components and "used on N pages".
In the Navigator, the header and footer always sit at the top and bottom of the page. You can't drag them, delete them, or move other content above the header or below the footer.
