Page SEO
Set the title, description and social preview image that search engines and social sites show for one page.
Each page has its own search title, description and social preview image. If you leave them empty, the page uses your site SEO defaults.
Open a page's SEO settings
- 01
Open the SEO view
In the editor's top bar, open the view menu and choose SEO.
- 02
Pick the page
Under Page-level SEO in the left list, click the page. Home is your home page; other pages are listed by address, nested the same way as in the Pages panel.
Each field saves when you click away from it.
Fields
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search Engines | When on, search engines may index this page and show it in results. Turn it off to hide just this page. |
| Title | The page's title in search results, browser tabs and social shares. The counter shows characters out of 60. |
| URL | The page's address. It's read-only here; rename a page from the Pages panel. |
| Description | The snippet under the title in search results and social shares. The counter shows characters out of 160. |
| Preview | A preview of how the page looks as a search result or shared link. |
| Social Preview | The image shown when someone shares this page (1200 × 630 pixels). |
The counters turn red when a field is empty and yellow when it's longer than the suggested length. A longer value still saves; search engines may shorten it.
If you leave Description empty, the page uses the site's default description. If there's no default either, the preview says No description set — search engines generate a snippet from page content.
How page titles are formatted
Starjay builds the final title from the page title and your site title (set in Site SEO defaults):
| Situation | Final title |
|---|---|
| Home page with its own title | The home page title, exactly as you typed it |
| Any other page with its own title | `Page title |
| A page with no title of its own | The site title alone |
| No page title and no site title | My website |
Social shares use the same title and description as search results. Only the image has its own setting.
Generate a title and description with AI
- 01
Click Generate
Next to Search appearance, click Generate.
- 02
Review the result
If the page's title and description are both empty, the AI fills them in. If either already has text, the AI shows suggestions under the fields instead.
- 03
Accept or dismiss each suggestion
Click Accept to use a suggestion, or the X to dismiss it.
Add a social preview image
- 01
Open the image picker
Under Page Images → Social Preview, click Upload (or Replace if there's already an image), or click the image area.
- 02
Choose an image
Pick an image from your image library, or add a new one.
To remove the image, hover over it and click the X in its corner. The page then falls back to the site's default social image, if you've set one.
You can also ask the AI, for example: "Write SEO titles and descriptions for every page."
Like other changes, SEO changes reach your live site the next time you publish.
