    Use your own AI

How agent work shows up in the editor

What you see in the editor while your own AI works, and how you review, keep or undo its changes.

    Turns

Your AI works in turns. It opens a turn before it changes anything and closes it when it's done. While a turn is open, the site is reserved for your AI: nobody else, including you and Starjay's built-in AI, can change it.

If your AI stops making calls for about five minutes, its turn lapses and the site is released. Your AI can open a new turn and carry on.

What you see while your AI works

    • On the canvas: Claude is editing — locked, with a running count such as · 3 files so far.
    • At the top of the left panels: Claude is editing — 3 files changed so far.
    • In the AI panel, the message box says An AI agent is editing this site… and you can't send a message.
    • Save and Reject are unavailable until the turn ends (Available when the AI finishes editing).

The editor says "Claude" for every connected AI, including Codex.

    Versions

Each turn your AI finishes becomes a version in the AI session, the same way each request to the built-in AI does. You can step back and forward through versions in the editor. Between your AI's turns you can edit the site yourself or keep going with the built-in AI.

    Save or Reject

Only you can end the session. Click Save to keep all the changes, or Reject to restore the site to how it was before the session started. Your AI can't do either. See AI sessions: versions, Save and Reject.

You have to Save or Reject before the site can be published, by you or by your AI.

    Take back control

To stop your AI in the middle of a turn, click Take back control on the canvas banner, then click Cut off Claude? to confirm. You'll see one of these:

    • Editing unlocked — Claude's changes saved as a step: the changes it had already made became a version you can review.
    • Editing unlocked — Claude was cut off: it hadn't changed anything yet.

Your AI's next change is refused, and it has to open a new turn.

    Reviewing on your phone

You can follow along, step through versions, and Save or Reject from your phone. See The phone review screen.
