    The editor

Edit text, links and images in place

How to change text, link destinations, images and alt text directly on the canvas, and what to do when something can't be edited there.

You edit content by double-clicking it on the canvas. There's no separate content panel. Your changes save as soon as you confirm them, and you can undo them with Cmd/Ctrl+Z.

    Edit text

    1. 01

      Double-click the text

In Edit mode, double-click a heading, paragraph, button label or other text. A cursor appears in the text.

    2. 02

      Type your change

Edit the text as you would in a document.

    3. 03

      Save or cancel

Press Enter or click somewhere else to save. Press Esc to cancel and put the old text back.

Text you empty completely isn't saved; the old text comes back. To remove an element, select it and press Delete instead.

Styled phrases and the formatting toolbar

Some text mixes styles, such as a heading with one highlighted word or a sentence with a bold phrase. When you edit text like this, a small toolbar appears above it with the styles that text offers: Bold, Italic, and any styles your site uses there (for example a gradient).

    • Select some words and click a style to apply or remove it.
    • Cmd/Ctrl+B and Cmd/Ctrl+I apply bold and italic.
    • Shift+Enter adds a line break.

The toolbar only appears for text that already supports styled phrases. For plain text, Enter saves.

    Edit a link

    1. Double-click the link (or select it and click the link icon on its label).
    2. A small box opens with a Link section. Open the destination list and choose one of your pages, or choose External URL... and type a web address such as https://example.com.
    3. Picking a page saves straight away. For an external address, press Enter or click Save. Click Revert to go back to the saved address.

If the link's text is editable, you can type in it at the same time; the box opens next to the text.

Replace an image or change its alt text

    1. Double-click the image (or select it and click the image icon on its label). A box opens with an Image section.
    2. To replace the image, click the thumbnail. Pick an image from your library, search with Search images…, or click Upload new. Picking an image saves straight away.
    3. To change the alt text, click the Alt text field, type a description of the image in this spot, then press Enter or click Save. Press Esc or click Revert to discard your change.

An unmanaged badge means the image isn't in your image library. Replace it with a library image to fix that. See Place and replace images and Alt text and descriptions.

    Add items to a list

Select a list or one of its items. If you can add to it on the canvas, a + Add item button appears below the selection. Click it to add a new item, then double-click the new item to change its text.

When something can't be edited in place

Some content can't be changed by double-clicking, for example text that's calculated or assembled from several values, or a link that isn't a simple address. When you double-click it, the box shows only Ask AI to change this…. Type what you want and press Enter. Your request goes to the AI with your selection attached, and the AI panel opens so you can follow along.

That Ask AI to change this… row appears in every box, so you can always hand a change to the AI instead.

Text that comes from a component's default wording may show Edit {ComponentName} with the note Changes affect every use of this default. Click it to open the component on its own and edit the default there.

Text that comes from a CMS collection item is edited in the CMS view.
