Restore a checkpoint
Put your whole site back the way it was at a checkpoint.
Restoring replaces your whole site with the copy saved in a checkpoint. You can't restore a single page or file.
- 01
Open Checkpoints
In the editor, choose Settings from the view menu, then Checkpoints.
- 02
Find the checkpoint
Click a checkpoint's name to expand it, and check Changes since checkpoint to see what restoring would change.
- 03
Restore
Click Restore this version, then Confirm restore.
While Starjay restores, you see Restoring checkpoint.... When it's done, the editor reloads with the restored site.
After a restore
- Your live site doesn't change until you publish. Publish to put the restored version online.
- Undo history is cleared. You can't undo past the restore with Cmd/Ctrl+Z; restore the Auto-save before restore checkpoint instead.
What a restore doesn't change
These aren't part of a checkpoint, so a restore leaves them as they are now:
- Form submissions you've received.
- Traffic and analytics numbers.
- Domains: your Starjay address and connected custom domains.
- Uploaded image files. They're stored separately from checkpoints, so restoring never deletes an image file.
- CMS collections and items. Use the CMS's own history instead.
- What's live. The published site stays as it is until you publish.
Who can restore
You restore checkpoints yourself, from the Checkpoints page. Neither the AI in the editor nor a connected AI app can restore a checkpoint.
