    Publish and domains

    Publish your site

Put your site, or your latest changes, on the internet from the Publish panel.

Your edits stay in the editor until you publish. Publishing builds your site and puts it live at your free Starjay address or your own domain.

    Before you publish

    Publish

    1. 01

      Open the Publish panel

Click Publish in the editor's top bar.

    2. 02

      Review what will change

If the site has been published before, a summary shows Changes ready to publish or No unpublished changes. Click View details to see the changed pages, forms and tokens.

    3. 03

      Click Publish

The button says Publish the first time and Republish when the site is already live.

    4. 04

      Wait for it to finish

The status line shows each stage of the publish as it runs. When it's done, the status changes to Live and a message offers Open to view the live site.

After publishing, the panel shows your live addresses next to the status (click one to open it) and Last published with the time.

    Publish status

    Status Meaning
Not published The site has never been published.
Queued... The publish is waiting for its turn.
Building site... and the stages after it The publish is running. The stages show its progress.
    Published The publish just finished.
    Live The site is online.
Deployed (offline) The site was published before but is unpublished now.
Failed The publish didn't finish. The panel shows what went wrong.

    What a publish includes

A publish sends your whole site as it is in the editor:

    • Every page marked ready, with its components, text and images.
    • Your colors, fonts and styles.
    • Forms and their settings.
    • SEO settings, redirects and Google Analytics.
    • Changes to which address serves your site, and a changed Starjay address.

It also removes pages marked for deletion. The details list marks these in red: they're removed for good once the publish finishes. See Delete and restore a page.

CMS items are separate: you publish them from the CMS, and they go live within seconds without a site publish. See Publish and unpublish items.

    Editing pauses while publishing

While a publish runs, you can't change anything on the site. The canvas, panels and CMS are locked (the CMS shows Publishing — editing is paused). This makes sure the live site matches exactly what you saw when you clicked Publish. Editing unlocks when the publish finishes.

    When you can't publish

What you see What to do
Publishing locked — AI is generating Wait for the AI to finish.
Publishing locked — accept or reject AI changes first. Click Review AI changes, then Save or Reject the session.
CMS items are still publishing. Publish the site when they finish. Wait a moment, then publish.
The Publish button is disabled with Queued... or a stage name A publish is already running. Wait for it to finish.

If a publish fails, your live site stays exactly as it was. Nothing you edited is lost. Read the error in the panel, fix the problem (or ask the AI to), and publish again.

    Other ways to publish

The AI chat inside Starjay can't publish your site. It can mark pages as ready or draft for the next publish.
