    Traffic and analytics

    Your site's traffic

A guide to every number and chart on the Analytics page.

Starjay counts visits to your published site for you. There's nothing to install.

    Open Analytics

    • In the editor: choose Analytics from the view menu in the top bar. It shows the site you're editing.
    • From the dashboard: click Analytics in the left menu, then pick a site from the menu next to the title.

If the site hasn't had any visits yet, you see No traffic yet.

    Controls

    Control Options
    Range 7D, 30D (default), 90D, 6M (last 6 months)
Group by Day (default), Week, Month. Changes how the two charts group the numbers.

    Summary numbers

    Number What it shows
Page views All page views in the range.
Avg / day The average number of page views per day.
Direct Views of your pages, by people and by bots.
Prefetched Pages a visitor's browser loaded ahead of time, expecting a click.

    Charts and lists

Page views over time charts page views by day, week or month.

Breakdown lists totals for the range:

    Row Meaning
Direct views Views of your pages, by people and by bots.
Prefetched views Pages loaded ahead of time by a browser.
404 pages Visits to addresses that don't exist on your site. A high number can mean a broken link or a missing redirect.
    Internal views Currently always zero.
    Total views All page views.

Composition by day (or week or month) is a stacked bar chart splitting each period into Direct, Bots, Prefetch and Internal. Starjay doesn't tell bots apart from people today, so Bots and Internal stay at zero and bot visits are part of Direct.

Top pages lists your eight most-viewed pages by path, with each page's views and share.

Visitors by country lists the eight countries with the most views.

    How current the numbers are

Numbers update about once an hour, so the latest hour's visits can take up to an hour to appear.
