AI memory
What the AI memory meter shows, why a full memory slows the AI down, and the difference between clearing its memory and clearing the chat.
The AI remembers your whole conversation while it works: your messages, its replies, and what it has read from your site. That memory has a limit.
The memory meter
The bar at the bottom of the AI panel, labeled AI memory, shows how full the AI's memory is, as a percentage. It turns yellow at 70% and red at 90%. Hover over it to see the details.
The fuller the memory, the slower each reply gets and the more credits each request uses, because the AI rereads everything it remembers every time.
Clearing memory
When nothing is running, a Clear menu appears next to the meter. It has two choices:
- Free up AI memory empties the AI's memory so replies stay fast and cheap, and helps it focus on what's next. Your messages stay visible in the chat.
- Free up AI memory + clear chat does the same and also clears the messages shown in the panel.
After clearing, a line appears in the chat: ⟲ AI memory cleared — it can't see above this line. The AI can still look at your site, so it can catch up on anything it needs by reading your pages again. It just won't remember what you said earlier, so restate anything important.
Your edits are never lost
Clearing memory doesn't change your site, your versions, or your session. Save and Reject work exactly as before.
When memory is full
If the memory fills up, you see AI memory is full. Clear AI memory/history before sending another prompt — your existing work is safe. Click Clear AI memory & continue.
If a single request is too big for the AI to handle at once, you may see Trim context & continue. If trimming isn't enough, the message suggests making the request smaller, and Restore prompt to edit puts your message back in the box so you can shorten it or remove some screenshots.
When to clear
- When you move on to a different part of the site.
- When the meter turns yellow and you don't need the earlier conversation.
- When the AI keeps returning to an idea you've moved away from.
